At Connolly Family Dentistry, we will take care of your dental emergency as soon as possible. If you’re not one our patients of record, we will make room in our schedule as soon as possible. We make best efforts to see you the same day you call us. The most important action you can take if you have a knocked-out tooth, a painful toothache, or an object lodged between your teeth is to call the dentist!
Knocked-Out Tooth
If your tooth gets knocked out, then hold the tooth by the crown (the top), and gentle rinse off the root. Do not remove any attached tissue fragments. If you can, place the tooth back in the socket and hold it there. If you can’t, then place the tooth in a cup of milk, and call Connolly Family Dentistry!
Toothache
If you’re experiencing a toothache, do not apply aspirin or other pain relievers directly to the gum—it may burn the tissue. Since most toothaches indicate a root canal infection, it’s important to call Connolly Family Dentistry as soon as possible.
Objects Caught Between Teeth
If you get something lodged between your teeth, try to gently remove it with dental floss. Do not use anything else to dislodge it! If dental floss does not help remove the object, call Connolly Family Dentistry.
